Cruse Bereavement Support |
Each of branches offers a unique mix of support services that is tailored to their local area.
Understanding Your Bereavement (group information sessions) Our Understanding Your Bereavement sessions provide an overview of the different ‘grief models’ and help you understand the reasons behind how you’re feeling.
One to one support We offer one to one sessions with one of our trained bereavement supporters. These usually take place over the phone or via a video call. In these sessions our volunteers will use counselling skills to help you understand how you’re feeling. Find out more.
Groups Many of our branches offer peer to peer support groups. These include walking groups.
Waiting lists Due to high demand for our services, many of our branches run a waitlist for support. When you get in touch with your local branch, they will let you know whether they are currently running a waitlist and how long you might expect to wait before receiving support. |
Helpline Our Helpline is run by trained bereavement volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by grief.
We’ll give you space to talk about your feelings and how you’ve been coping. Our volunteers are completely non-judgemental and won’t share what you’ve told them with anyone else, unless you are in danger.
Give us a call You can call us for free on 0808 808 1677.

Marie Curie's Bereavement Support Service |
Our Bereavement Service is for people who might want to have ongoing support, from the same bereavement volunteer, over the phone.
When you start using the service, you'll be matched with a specially trained volunteer who'll give you regular bereavement support. They'll provide a safe space where you can talk openly about your grief. You can access up to six telephone sessions of 45 minutes.
Our Bereavement Service is not a counselling service. Our volunteers are here to offer you a safe, confidential space to discuss your feelings and emotions around bereavement. The service may not be suitable for people who require a greater level of support, such as counselling or psychotherapy.
